A B O U T

Growing up in the South with a grandmother who had a passion for and knowledge of antiques and heirlooms, Virginia knew from a young age she was destined for design. A visual learner and lover of all things beautiful, Virginia gains her inspiration through travel – absorbing the architecture and natural elements of each destination. Virginia originally studied Interior Design at the University of Alabama, but went on to graduate with a degree in Business Administration. After internships with several interior designers, working as a design assistant in the floral industry, and a brief career in the financial services industry, she learned quickly that she could no longer ignore her true passion. Virginia began working with Iris Thorpe of Iris & Co., who she credits for much of her knowledge in the industry.

Virginia McCary Design launched in the spring of 2016. While creating beautiful and inviting spaces is always the end goal for her clients, Virginia also understands the importance of practical, durable design. She believes that incorporating eclectic, one of a kind objects and accessories is a key component in creating inviting spaces with a mix of antique and contemporary elements.  Listening to clients’ needs and wants and being able to turn their ideas into a reality is something that brings her joy each day.
